Meena Durairaj, mononymously known as Meena is an Indian actress who has starred as lead heroine in all the four southern film industries.

Meena Durairaj is popularly known as Meena is an Indian actress who acts in south Indian films. She was born on September 16th 1976 in Chennai. Besides her acting, Meena is a dancer, singer and also hosts television shows.
She is the daughter of Durairaj and Raj Mallika. She has been into acting since 1982 starting as child artist. She was married to a Software Engineer Vidyasagar who is a Bangalore resident on July 12th 2009. The couple now has one child born on 1st January 2011 in Chennai. She was given Lalitha Kalanjali Award for her outstanding performance in the movie Chanti released in 1992. This movie made her won 2 regional awards. She got Thumbs Up Best Actress Award for Rajinikanth starrer Muthu (1995) and 3 times Filmfare best actress awards, out of them 2 were for Tamil films Bharathi Kannama and Ejamaan released in 1997 and 1991. She has also won the famous Kalaimamani Awards in 1998 Her recent awards TSR TV9 2010 awards and Ugadi Puraskaar Awards 2011 under special jury and best actress won were for a Telugu film Tarikonda Venkamamba(2009)
Meena’s debut in Film industry started with a Tamil movie Nejangal. But she was taken then as Child artist. It casts Dr. Shivaji Ganeshan as male lead. Her film career as an actress began with Seetharamayya gaari Manavaralu parallely in Tamil too with Oru Pudiya Kadhal. She has acted with many top stars of south film as Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, Chiranjeevi, Vishnuvardan, Venkatesh, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, Mohanlal, Mamooty covering Telugu, Tamil , Kannada and Malayalam languages. She was highly recognized with telugu film Chanti (1992). She emerged as a star heroine in starting 90’s to mid 90’s in South. She has done movies like Ejamaan, Veera, Muthu(1995) with Superstar Rajinikanth an Avaishanmugai with Kamal Hassan. She had appeared even after her marriage in few films like Hendtheera Darbar and Sri Vasavi Vaibhavam (2012).
